The National Hockey League (NHL) has announced that the Hong Kong based All Sports Network (ASN) has obtained broadcast rights to air NHL games in most of Asia, mainly India and China. This agreement will allow ASN to broadcast more than 130 regular season games on ASN’s channel Yes TV, which will also include Stanley Cup final, all-star game, playoffs and NHL highlights. ASN will extend its broadcast in South Korea in the second year of the deal. ASN contract won’t cover broadcasting Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
NHL senior vice-president Ken Yaffe said “We have been very impressed by ASN’s aggressive rollout plans and their commitment to a growing roster of sports programming, Partnering with ASN represents a significant step in expanding our broadcast footprint internationally, and we are excited to begin offering our fans in Asia a comprehensive, season-long game schedule.”
