Beach Tennis USA (BTUSA) has announced the schedule of 2009 National Beach Tennis Championship to be held in Long Beach, New York on Labor Day Weekend and to be broadcast on The Tennis Channel. The Beach Tennis Championship will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 5 and 6.
The 2009 National Beach Tennis Championship will see as many as 75 Men and Women’s Pro division teams from 12 countries are expected to compete in the event.
The event kicks off on Saturday, September 5 with a new addition to the beach tennis National Championship, the “Paddle Battle”. BTUSA has begun integrating the use of paddles in their competitions and are giving credence to it by pitting beach tennis veterans against one another using specially designed paddles. The Amateur and Junior Paddle Battles begin at 9:00 a.m. and are open to first-time players through intermediates. The Men’s and Ladies Pro Divisions begin at 10:30 a.m., with the Finals of both divisions at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
To kick off the paddle version of beach tennis, BTUSA will be providing complimentary paddles for all players. As a special treat, The Pulse 87.7 FM, New York’s hottest dance music radio station, will be on hand along with Curb Records recording artist, Kaci Battaglia. The day’s events conclude with a family movie night on the beach as Beach Tennis USA and the City of Long Beach, NY sponsor the Starlight Movie Night.
On Sunday, September 6, the 2009 Beach Tennis USA Racquet matches will begin with an Amateur tournament at 9:00 a.m. Winners receive a BTUSA Prize Pack & BTUSA Paddles. The Men’s and Ladies Pro Tournament will kick off at 10:00 a.m. with the Ladies and Men’s Pro Division Finals taking place at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
