Time Warner Cable is to launch sixteen new high-definition channels to its programming line up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Time Warner is testing to launch 16 HD channels that include:
- E! HD
- Fox Business Network HD
- G4 HD
- IFC HD
- MSNBC HD
- Planet Green HD
- Style HD
- The Weather Channel HD
- TV1 HD and
- We HD
Time Warner Cable is presently offering 60 HD channels and the cable operator is planning to bring more HD channels to Milwaukee subscribers.
Time Warner Cable and Disney & ESPN Media Networks have entered to launch 24-hour Spanish-language sports network ‘ESPN Deportes’ to Time Warner Cable’s Digital Basic level of service subscribers in Texas on September 7, 2009. ESPN Deportes is currently available only on Spanish-language package subscribers in Texas.
ESPN Deportes will be available on digital basic in seven of the top 10 U.S. Hispanic markets that includes Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Dallas-Forth Worth, San Antonio, Phoenix and Harlingen.
David Preschlack, executive vice president, Affiliate Sales and Marketing, Disney and ESPN Media Networks said, “This agreement represents another step forward in our efforts to make ESPN Deportes more broadly available to fans in major and emerging U.S. Hispanic markets across the country. ESPN Deportes will be available to almost one million Time Warner Cable digital basic customers in Dallas, San Antonio, Harlingen, El Paso, and Austin, and the fact that it coincided with ESPN’s 30th Anniversary is a tangible example of how our mission to serve the fan has evolved over the years.”
Gary Underwood, Time Warner Cable’s vice president of communications for North Texas said, “Time Warner Cable in North Texas is excited to make ESPN Deportes available as part of our popular Digital Basic tier. This change represents even more value and diversity for our digital customers here in North Texas.”
BBC America and Time Warner Cable have entered distribution pact and the cable giant has launched the channel in high-definition on August 19. Time Warner has launched BBC America HD on channel 685.
BBC America launched its HD simulcast on July 20 and delivered the subscribers with sci-fi HD treats as Torchwood: Children of Earth and Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead.
BBC America HD is negotiating with the leading satellite and cable operators and expecting to be launched on many other operators very soon.
Apart from BBC America HD, Time Warner has also added four more HD channels to New York subscribers.
Oceanic Time Warner Cable, KFVE and the University of Hawaii (UH) have entered a deal to deliver pay-per-view sports broadcasts in high-definition in 2009. The PPV sports line-up includes football, women’s volleyball and men’s basketball games. Time Warner, UH and KFVE have announced last year that the HD broadcast is possible in future.
A price increase is expected as incentive to get fans out to games and the exact price hike will be known by the end of this week.
Norman Santos, president of Oceanic Time Warner Cable said “We’re still working out a few kinks, but it looks really, really positive, we’re still working out the schedule and trying to figure out some other things. I think the major consideration previously (was that) we all had some skepticism as to putting such a good quality product on TV; less people would show up at the stadium. So we’re trying to make sure we don’t detract from the live audience.”
ESPN Network has launched ESPNU HD on August, 2008 coinciding with the start of the College Football season and is now delivering more than 200 HD events that include all of its Live Thursday and Saturday college football games and also exclusive coverage of college basketball, lacrosse, baseball, softball, volleyball, wrestling, hockey and more.
During the launch the HD simulcast, ESPN HD was carried by the leading operators like Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS TV, RCN, Atlantic Broadband and Broadstripe. Recently AT&T also added the collegiate sports channel. Comcast has also struck a deal to carry ESPNU.
The leading satellite provider DirecTV has recently announced that ESPNU will be added to Choice programming package starting July, 1. But there is no news regarding HD simulcast launch and subscribers are expecting before the 2010 college season.
Time Warner Cable has announced that six high-definition channels will be launched in greater Cleveland area on June 15. Time Warner will be adding following HD channels in Cleveland area:

Time Warner will be launching AMC, Lifetime Movie Network and Travel Channel in HD to Standard HD subscribers. ESPNU, Speed and Versus will be added in HD to its Digital Basic subscribers.
Time Warner is also planning to launch MLB Extra Innings or NHL Center Ice packages to its Game HD subscribers.
Time Warner Cable has launched ‘Primetime On Demand‘ on March 09, 2009 to deliver variety of hit shows from broadcasters and cable networks’ primetime lineups. The prominent broadcasters that are included are:

Time Warner Cable has announced that it has moved GSN, the Network for Games from their Sports Tier to digital basic tier and is available on channel 227. This move will allow all digital subscribers to receive the channel at no extra cost. GSN dedicated to game shows and casino game shows broadcast a variety of programming about games, including casino games, classic game shows such “Family Feud” with host Richard Dawson and original programming such as “Bingo America.”

Time Warner Cable will launch the all-soccer network GolTV in the Central New York Division on Tuesday, March 3. GolTV will be available on channel 248 on optional Digital Sports Tier in Central New York locations and on channel 565 in Southern Tier/Binghamton locations. Time Warner Cable and HBO hosted world premiere of ‘The Battle For Tobacco Road: DUKE VS. CAROLINA’ on Sunday, February 8 at 4:30 p.m. at The Carolina Theatre. More than 1,500 Duke and Carolina cohorts were present along with Ross Greenburg, president of HBO Sports and producer George Roy. This special on HBO tracing the history of the rivalry, as well as examining the different cultures and characteristics of the programs in Durham and Chapel Hill premiered on Monday, Feb.23.
Greenburg said in an interview “This film explores how a cross-town rivalry between two prestigious academic universities in North Carolina has escalated into one of the most scrutinized and intense rivalries in college sports, the regular season showdowns and the ACC Tournament meetings between these two schools have become national events, and we’ll explore how it all started and what it means to have played in one of these contests.”
