DirecTV To Launch The MLB Network HD on New Year Day

DirecTV will bring The MLB Network to its subscribers on the New Year day in high-definition. Major League Baseball owned sports network will be launched on January 1, 2009 and will be available to 50 million homes on the launch day. Tony Petitti, President of the network has said that along with DirecTV, Cox Communications, Comcast, Time Warner and Verizon are to carry the network.

The MLB Network has broadcast rights to bring 26 regular games in 2009 season on Thursdays and will also televise the 2009 World Baseball Classic, studio programming and international and development league games.
