ESPN has reached an greement to broadcast Ricoh Women’s British Open championship for eight years. ESPN will start its coverage from 2010 and will bring 12 hours of live coverage for the all the four days of play. ESPN also has acquired the expanded television and digital media rights for ESPN International to broadcast the matches worldwide.
Ricoh Women’s British Open will be covered on all ESPN media platforms like ESPN, ABC, ESPN2, ESPN International, ESPN.com, ESPN360.com, and ESPN Mobile. ESPN Networks has secured the broadcast rights of the British Open to televise in Asia, Canada, English language rights in China, Israel and Latin America territories.
“We are pleased to offer golf fans unprecedented live coverage of the Women’s British Open and the Open Championship on television as well as many other devices. With this new deal, ESPN will be able to showcase the Women’s British Open like never before, with live coverage of all four rounds” said Leah LaPlaca, Vice President, Programming and Acquisitions, ESPN in a press release.
