ESPN has announced that it has expanded its Wimbledon digital rights agreement with The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. This agreement will allow ESPN to broadcast live broadband coverage of Wimbledon on ESPN360.com twice that of last year, 60 percent increase of live mobile streaming on ESPN Mobile TV and more highlights on ESPN.com and ESPNdeportes.com.
ESPN has stated that its signature live sports broadband network ESPN360.com will bring live broadcast throughout the early rounds from all courts. ESPN360.com will broadcast 650 hours of live coverage between opening day and the semi-finals. The sports network will bring Wimbledon Finals On-demand on the following day.
John Skipper, executive vice president, content, ESPN said “Wimbledon is one of the great ’sports holidays’ on the calendar for fans each year, through ESPN’s platforms, the competition, pageantry and personalities of Wimbledon will be available to fans at their desk, in their pocket and on their television like never before.”
